PUCALLPA, Peru / Fish Selling

A loan of $325 helped to buy fish and spare parts.

Carlos's story

Carlos is 35 years old and married to Margarita. They have two children, ages nine and four. He has a home of his own where he and his family are just beginning to live. Carlos works two jobs, one of which is selling fish. The other is driving a moto-taxi. He goes to the port every morning to buy differnet types of fish to later distribute around different streets in town. He has been doing this for eight years on his own, but he hires temporary help around the city whenever he needs it. He likes both jobs and has always been tied to business. He likes to constantly be moving and both jobs allow him to have his freedom in time and action. His activities provide a good income and at the moment he feels comfortable with what he has and earns, but he would like to have better income and set up a fish store. This will be his first loan through Kiva and he promises to make his payments on time. He will use the 800 PEN to buy different types of fish and spare parts for his moto-taxi becasue it is in need of repair.
