Osiris's story

Osiris is a 50-year-old woman who lives in Turbaco (Bolivar) with her spouse. She has 2 children who are 19 and 25 years old. She is very well-known in the city for her work as a tailor. She has been doing this work for 15 years, taking advantage of what she learned from her mother from the time she was very young, which she used later to earn income and support her family's well-being. Little by little she bought her tools, machines and equipment, and she gained a good reputation with her neighbors. Today her main product lines are school uniforms, for which she has some contracts with schools in addition to direct sales to parents. Currently she is applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, which she will use to buy fabric in greater volume as well as supplies. With it, she will obtain better discounts and will offer her customers competitive prices that gain her wider recognition. Her goal is to move forward so that her children will be respectable, successful professionals, since that is what she yearns for most.
