A loan of $300 helped to buy rechargeable phone cards.

Sira's story

Sira is 34 years old. She is married and the mother of three children. She lives in a traditional family setting with other couples and their children. She is a resident of the Hamdallaye neighborhood of the city of Ségou (fourth administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

Sira left school at a very young age, and she got involved in small retail alongside her mother who was selling condiments. After learning from her mother for several years, she now works alone and sells rechargeable phone cards. She has been involved in this activity for seven years and has many customers.

Eager to meet her customers' demand, she joined Soro Yiriwaso seven years ago. Having duly repaid 14 solidarity loans, she is now taking her first individual loan which will be used to buy rechargeable phone cards. She stocks up locally.

Sira usually sells for cash to both men and women, mostly civil servants. With this loan, she is expecting monthly profits to reach 50,000 CFA francs, which will allow her to take care of her family's expenses and to increase her business. She dreams about building a house.
