Azad's story

Azad is 25 years old and an IDP (internally displaced person) who lives in the Bilasuvar IDP Settlement with his wife and one daughter. He is farmer and has raised seasonal fruits and vegetables for the last 5 years. He chose this business because it is profitable and fresh crops are in high demand. People use fresh vegetables everyday and consider them healthy. Many national dishes are made of vegetable, like pilau and dolma. Fresh fruits serve every table in Azerbaijan families, and are also used to make fresh punch.

Azad sells his crops in the Bilasuvar Settlement and sometimes in the bazaar. His monthly income is 130 AZN. His wife actively helps him to raise crops.

As these products are in high demand, Azad wants to expand his business and produce more fruits and vegetables to cover market demand. For this purpose, he applied for an 1800 AZN loan. He will buy new garden tools, seeds, and fertilizers. This will be his third loan and he has a good client history.

He has more plans for the future, such as to get more land for cultivation. Azad looking forward to increased sales in the coming summer because people purchase fruits a lot.
