A loan of $250 helped to purchase fabric, cloth, thread, and other materials needed in her business.

Hemelda's story

Hemelda is 39 years old, married, and has children. She is a resident of Dasmariñas, Cavite, Philippines. Her husband is a businessman. She, together with husband, manages their household while operating her business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.

Hemelda operates a rug-making business. She mainly offers rugs, from round palm-sized ones to the much larger doormats. As rugs are a major part of Filipino housekeeping and cleaning, rugs are one of the most common products that can be bought. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 500 PHP in sales every day.

To help her continue operations of her business, Hemelda is requesting a loan for 10,000 PHP, which she will use to buy more quantities of raw materials such as fabric, thread, and other materials for her business.

Hemelda hopes to expand her business and have more customers. She meets up with her co-fellowship* members to share stories of her life and business every week and where she can also draw strength and inspiration from God.

*All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study God, build social capital, and pay microfinance loans.
