A loan of $950 helped to buy clothes, trainers and Esika make-up.

Shirley Dayana's story

The "Calle América" communal bank meets every fortnight in the Montecristi district. Famous for it rich pre-colonial culture and for its nationally internationally recognised artisan products, straw hats also come from here. Shirley, 19 years old, lives here in Montecristi. She is married and has a three-year-old son with her husband, who works as a builder. Shirley has a business at home as her husband does not earn a lot of money and sometimes finds himself without work. With Shirley's income, the family can move forward. Shirley's business is selling all types of clothes as well as trainers and Esika products (beauty items, make-up, perfumes and women's accessories). She sells door-to-door and from home. She has had the business for five years and it has allowed the family to prosper. This loan will be used to buy clothes, trainers and Esika make-up. After four cycles with the communal bank, Shirley likes it because the loans are quick and are a great help to her. Shirley's dream to expand her business.
