A loan of $1,175 helped to make improvements to two rooms.

Alicia's story

Alicia, 56, lives in the city of Pisco with her three children, whom she loves and are her main reason for living. She is a very friendly, hard-working, and enthusiastic person, who sadly lost her beloved husband. Since then, she has put all her efforts into moving her family forward. Unfortunately, due to a lack of economic resources and because she has had to work since she was very young, Alicia was not able to study a professional degree, but she would have liked to do so. In her free time, she likes to cook and sometime she prepares a delicious Seco de Res to share with her family. On her own initiative, and with a lot of dedication and effort, Alicia works in the morning as a mototaxi driver, providing transportation services in her city. In the afternoons she sells soft drinks and snow cones in many flavors. She works every day for about ten hours and believes that it's going well for her because of the friendly way she treats her customers. Alicia is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, because thanks to them, she will be able to make improvements to two rooms in her home, which are currently made of rush mats and plastic. This way, she will be able to build these rooms out of adequate materials, which will bring her family better wellbeing and security. Alicia will continue to work and make an effort to achieve her big dream of finishing construction on her house.
