Abelardo's story

53-year-old Abelardo is a small businessman from Mal Paisillo, on the outskirts of León. He is married and the father of four children. Abelardo's business is making and selling tortillas. He has owned his own tortilla business for more than 4 years now. Owing to his family's poor financial situation, he was only able to complete his first year of secondary school. He established his own business at the age of 48 with his own capital. He started out making his own tortillas with just 10 pounds of corn. Through a lot of hard work and effort, he has been able to make progress in his business which is now very profitable. Abelardo has two employees who help him make his tortillas. His goal is to grow his business and become a successful businessman. He has the support of his wife.

Abelardo is requesting a loan to buy ten 100lb bags of corn and some firewood. He will also buy metal sheeting and wood. He believes that this loan will help him to buy all the raw materials that he needs to make his tortillas. He will also be able to improve the infrastructure of his business premises and thereby offer a better service to his customers. His aim is to increase his sales and make more profits. His future plans are to build a house so that he can further expand his business. One of his short-term goals is to pay back his loan.
