Yenisa Flor's story

Yenisa is a 22-year old woman who lives in the town of Pucallpa with her parents and her much loved young daughter who is the apple of her eye. Yenisa is a very friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic person who tries very hard to get ahead for the sake of her daughter as Yenisa is both mother and father to her. She had been studying to be a technical nurse, but sadly because of lack of money and the need to work, she wasn’t able to finish the course. But she would like to do so one day.

In her free time Yenisa likes to work on her house and sometimes she cooks a delicious sudado de pescado (steamed fish) to share with her family.

On her own initiative and with much effort and dedication Yenisa now runs a small business selling groceries and drinks. She works there for about 13 hours a day and believes all is going well because of the fair prices she charges and the good service she provides. She is very grateful to Kiva donors as it is thanks to their help that she will be able to buy school supplies and stationery to sell in her store. These items will be very welcome at the beginning of the school year. Yenisa plans to continue working hard to fulfill her dream of providing her daughter with a good education and see her get a good job one day.
