A loan of $4,750 helped a member to buy a variety of products in bulk to stock up her store.

Retamas De Huayrapata Group's story

The "Retamas de Huayrapata" communal bank has 11 members - ten women and one man. The president of the bank is Elizabeth, who is 45 years old and married with two children, aged 15 and 25 years. Elizabeth makes a living selling staple goods such as groceries, sweets, soft drinks and a variety of items in her small shop in the town of Torno. This loan is her first cycle with the institution and Elizabeth will use it to buy a variety of products in bulk to stock up her store, thus providing a variety of products to her customers. She is applying for the loan to continue improving her business. Elizabeth will use the profits to keep buying products and so increase her income as there is currently a lot of demand. Her wish is for her store to have a stock room so as to provide better services to her customers.
