A loan of $950 helped to buy more sugar, flour, rice and others products.

Faridah's story

Faridah is 37 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has five children who are all currently in school. For the past five years, Faridah has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar, flour, rice and other products.

To help expand her business, Faridah has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more sugar, flour, rice and other products, and will help Faridah to generate greater profits and meet customers' needs. Faridah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land.

Faridah is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Faridah who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
