A loan of $400 helped to hire on-site laborers.

Sebastian's story

Sebastian is 24 years old. He is single and his main responsibility is his little girl, Geraldine. He has a house built of adobe. For the past five years, Sebastian has been growing organic coffee and cacao on plots of land he bought at an affordable price from the cacao producers association. On-site laborers help him on his land, and with their collective efforts, they complete the daily tasks in less time. However, the rainy season is a time when maintenance tasks are affected by mud and slippery roads. As he is close to ending with a profit, he wishes to have the support of the financial institution and be financially prepared for the corncob harvesting, a process which must be performed smoothly in order to complete the final step in the sequence of tasks and achieve the desired result. His long-term goal is to purchase a vehicle to be used for the transport of cacao grains thereby reducing the additional costs for transport. At this time, he needs 1,000 nuevos soles to hire laborers for the harvest season that is about to start.
