A loan of $300 helped to buy firewood and pay for splitting and transportation.

Che's story

Che is married and has seven children. They live in a four-bedroom apartment in the Bamenda Mezam division of the northwest region of Cameroon. He has faced many obstacles in life including the death of his elder sister, who had been of great support to him by helping to sponsor his children and take care of other family expenditures; the sickness of his child; and an accident that led to the use of money he had for medication and the settlement of hospital bills. With the new loan requested, he will buy firewood, pay for transportation expenses of the wood to his compound, and pay a person to split the wood. He is positive his business will succeed because he has been doing it for a long time, and from this activity the community will have a regular supply of wood at greatly reduced prices. With the profit from the loan, he will educate his children and also take care of other necessities in the family. He says he prefers GHAPE loans because of the low interest rates charged on the loans.
