A loan of $200 helped to buy hair oils, creams and treatments for the salon.

Sarah's story

Sarah is a 38-year-old lady with four school-going children. She runs a hair salon that she started in 1997, when she was 22 years old. She realized that she had talent in plaiting hair and decided to start a salon. Since then she has gained more experience and has become an expert. Sarah's salon is on the outskirts of town. To supplement her income, Sarah also sells air time cards on a small scale.

Sarah wants this loan to buy more treatments, creams, lotions, shampoos, dyes and hair weaves. Sarah's major challenge is high taxes. Also, the months of January and February are months when schools begin so most people have no money to spend on a salon, so business is usually low.

Sarah's dream is to see her salon grow into a renowned business that attracts people from far and wide. In the photo is Sarah with the Ugafode credit officer.
