A loan of $1,150 helped to buy seed fertilizers for her to sell in her business.


Apophia's story

Apophia is 27 years old and lives in the town of Wobulenzi in the Luwero region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 child with one of them currently in school. For the past three years, Apophia has been working hard to manage her Agro chemical store, which sells seed fertilizers. To help expand her business, Apophia has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy seed fertilizers for her to sell, and will help Apophia to generate greater profits and save money to pay fees for the children. Apophia hopes that in the future she will be able to be more productive . Apophia is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Apophia who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
