Shidha's Group's story

Shidha is a forty-one year old dryland farmer and mother of seven children; her husband is a farmer too. They grow maize, cowpeas and cassava. Shidha and her husband's agricultural business is affected by insects and pests, but they do not have the money to buy insecticides. She is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program to earn money to support her family. With the proceeds from her tree farm, Shidha plans to provide the best education possible for her children, who are all currently attending school. She would also like to open a retail shop and buy land for her family.
