Meet with members of the “Hope To God 1” group from Waterloo, a town in western Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva to apply for a loan of SLL 500,000 for each member. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their respective businesses, make more sales and consequently improve on their living conditions. Kadiatu is the featured leader of this group. The 44-year-old is married to a fisherman and they have 2 children. Fatmata has been a businesswoman for many years now, she sells dried fish. With her share of this loan, she will buy a basket-full of dried fish to add to her business.
