Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $200 helped to buy three bags of fertiliser.

Juan Carlos's story

Juan makes a living growing corn. He is 31 years old and lives with his partner and two children, who are aged 2 and 5 years old. He also lives with his parents.

Juan has been doing this work for seven years alongside his father. They work from 6am until midday. This work allows Juan to earn an income to help with household costs. He needs a loan to buy three bags of fertiliser. This purchase will help him to plant his crops and give them the necessary care.

This investment will allow Juan to earn a higher income through his crop and so improve his and his family's living conditions.
