A loan of $625 helped to purchase a new stock of charcoal and fuel wood to sell.

Fausta's story

Fausta is a resident of Likoni, Kenya. She is a charcoal seller and has been doing this business for five years. Fausta is a married mother of one school-going child. She began the business from an informal savings scheme called ‘merry go round’; where a group contributes equal amounts of money and lends to one person at a time.
She was introduced to Milango by her friends and is asking for a loan of 53,800 Kenya shillings to purchase a new stock of charcoal and fuel wood to sell. She will pay for her child's school fee from the extra income.
Despite the challenge of the high cost of transportation, Fausta believes the business has a future. As well as using the income to educate her child, she looks forward to owning a wholesale shop in the future.
