A father of two schoolchildren residing in Kampong Cham Province, Chung is 38 years old and married. On two hectares each of rice and cassava cropping, he is able to earn up to 32,900 KHR per day. This is the second cycle for Chung with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past loan, which he has completely repaid, has enabled him to support his business and stabilize his lifestyle.
For this new cycle, he will use his loan to buy fertilizer for his farmland. He hopes to boost his crop productivity and to get a high yield in order to buy an additional plot of land to grow rubber tree seedlings on.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
