A loan of $575 helped a member to buy fertilizer, rice seed and insecticide, and to pay plowing fees.

Chamroeurn's Group's story

Chamroeurn, a 51-year-old mother of four kids, is a farmer who makes a living through a rice farming business. Her husband works for others for a fee to make extra income and to help his wife deal with the family’s financial hardship. After 15 years of being engaged in the current business, Chamroeurn is able to earn up to 23,300 KHR per day. After offsetting other expenses, she is able to save up to 6,400 KHR per day. This is not the original loan for Chamroeurn with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). With a positive impact on her living conditions, she feels confident that she can maintain this livelihood in a gradual manner. Now, she is in need of working capital to support her farmland. She formed a group of two to apply for a new loan. As the group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer, rice seed and insecticide, and to pay plowing fees. She hopes to grow her cash crop on time and receive a good yield.
