A loan of $3,675 helped a member to purchase quinoa.

Las Magnificas De Franz Tamayo Group's story

The communal bank "LAS MAGNIFICAS DE FRANZ TAMAYO" is starting its second loan cycle with the organization Pro Mujer. They are working with one of the organization's regional offices in Los Andes. The communal bank has nine members and is led by a governing board where Ignacia acts as president.
The businesses of the group members are varied: blanket weaving, mattress manufacturing, neighborhood grocery store, food selling.
The loan will benefit micro-entrepreneurs, one of whom is Ignacia. She indicates that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for six months, after having been invited to join by a promoter for the institution who visited her at her home. She currently has a business selling quinoa juice. She started this business years ago, following the advice of a cousin who also sells this product.
She will use this loan to increase her stock (purchase of quinoa wholesale) which she will buy in wholesale stores. After manufacturing, she will sell her products at her stall. This way of working allows her to generate resources to provide for her household because she is married and has three children.
When asked about what she likes from Pro Mujer, she says she likes the health care area and the loan rate.
