A loan of $400 helped to pay for her children's school expenses.

Rosa Jannet's story

Rosa is a 40-year-old woman who lives with her children in the city of Ica. She loves her children and they are her main reason for living. Rosa is a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic person who dedicates all of her efforts toward helping her children move forward. She must play the roles of both mother and father. Unfortunately, due to the lack of financial resources and the need to work at a very young age, Rosa was not able to study for a nursing degree as she had hoped. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her children and on some occasions she will prepare a delicious dish of “carapulcra” (a spicy Peruvian stew) as a treat for them.

Through her own initiative and with great effort and dedication, Rosa works at her small business of selling snack foods. Her sales are conducted as a street vendor and she is able to work approximately 12 hours. She believes that she is doing well because of the friendly service that she offers to her customers.

Rosa is extremely grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to the assistance they have provided, she will be able to cover the cost of school tuition for her children. She will also be able to buy school supplies for them so that they will have the necessary materials to adequately continue with their studies. Rosa continues to work and strive toward achieving her greatest wish of seeing her children become successful professionals.
