Sandra Isabel's story

Sandra Isabel, 45 years old, is a single mother of four children. She is a native of Malpaisillo, which is located in the western part of the country. Sandra is known as being a hardworking, responsible woman, who has had to work since she was very young due to the lack of financial resources. Consequently, she fights every day to provide a better future for her children. Thanks to her desire to improve and get ahead she has had a business selling basic grains (rice, beans), sugar, cooking oil, cereals, soap, detergent and chlorine bleach for eight years. Her work routine spans some 10 hours a day at a specific place in the community. The objective of the loan is to invest in working capital and stock her business by purchasing basic gains so that, in the not too distant future, she will be able to earn a better income. Sandra is grateful for the help that Kiva investors provide to people with scarce resources and to poor countries, such as Nicaragua, so that they will have a way to obtain decent work.
