A loan of $200 helped to buy seeds.

Silvia's story

Silvia is 45 years old and is married to Carlos. They have two children, ages 12 and 16, and they live together in their own house. Silvia is an enterprising woman, and her main business activity is agriculture. She plants peas, broad beans, spinach, and carrots, among others.

She says that the key to her good sales is in her sowing schedule. For example, now she is starting to plant peas because the prices are better for them in October.

"Now I am planning to plant peas and broad beans, because I am already harvesting spinach and lettuce. With my next budget, I will invest in fertilizer," she says. In her 25 years working the fields, she has acquired plots of land that she is now planning to expand, either by buying or renting them. She is happy with her work because this is what she enjoys doing.

This will be Silvia's third loan with MFP, and she feels grateful for the financing she has been given. She will buy one bag of pea seeds, which costs 450 Peruvian soles. She will use the rest of this loan for some necessities in her work.
