A loan of $1,150 helped to start poultry farming.

Eva's story

Eva is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kinubi in the Hoima region of Uganda. She is single and has one child who is currently in school. For the past three years, Eva has been working hard to manage her piggery; she sells pork.

To help expand her business, Eva has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to start poultry farming and will help Eva to generate greater profits and look after the family. Eva hopes that in the future she will be able to start constructing rental houses.

Eva is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Eva who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
