A loan of $400 helped to buy livestock.

Sériba's story

Sériba was born in October 1960 in Tinzanadougou in the prefecture of Sikasso. He is married and father to seven children, and he lives with his two wives and their children in a large traditional family in Sanoubougou 1, one of the working-class districts of the town on Sikasso. After several unsuccessful business ventures, Sériba began buying livestock about nine years ago. He carries out this activity at the new livestock market in Médine where he sells sheep, goats etc..He is in great demand from his customers for the quality of his livestock. In order to satisfy the demand of his ever-growing customer base, he decided to join the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso and is now on his third individual loan. He is requesting this third individual loan to buy 20 small ruminants from breeders in the surrounding towns, including Bamoukou, Kléla, Koro, Barrage etc. With this loan he is expecting to make a monthly profit of 90,000FCFA, which will be used to expand his business, contribute to family expenses and repay the interest on his loan.
