A loan of $300 helped to purchase fresh fish.

Moussa's story

Moussa was born around 1978 in the Zanso Circle of Kadiolo. The father of two children, Moussa lives in a traditional family in the city of Loulouni (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). Moussa has a booth at the market in Loulouni where he has been running his business of selling fresh fish for almost two years. His experience in this field has earned him a good reputation and notoriety in his trade. In order to purchase the supplies to satisfy the demand of his customers, Moussa has begun working with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. He is currently on his first loan cycle.

This loan will enable Moussa to buy 200 kilos of fresh fish. He purchases his supply at the large market in the city of Sikasso. Moussa sells his fish for cash and at retail at his booth in Loulouni to a clientele composed of both men and women. With this loan, he expects to earn an average monthly income of 70,000 FCFA. This loan will allow Moussa to pay the interest on his loan and pay for his expenses. He will reinvest the remainder into his business. Moussa's ambition is to become a wholesaler so that he can properly supply fresh fish to his ever-increasing clientele.
