A loan of $775 helped to stock more g-nuts (peanuts) and dry maize to sell.

Grace's story

Grace is 30 years old and lives in the town of Fortportal in the Fortportal region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, one of whom is currently in school. For the past eight years, Grace has been working hard to manage her produce business , which sells maize flour, rice, g-nuts and beans.

To help expand her business, Grace has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more g-nuts (peanuts) and dry maize to sell and will help Grace to generate greater profits and income. Grace hopes that in the future she will be able to add to the business.

Grace is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Grace who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
