A loan of $400 helped to hire laborers.

Zenaida's story

Zenaida is 46 and is married to Mario, who is 50. Together they have 4 children, who are their motivation for all their work. They live in a home built of adobe, which Zenaida hopes to improve with the fruits of her labor.

She has always been involved in raising organic cacao, since from the time she was a girl she grew up working in her parents' parcels of land.

As the years passed and she reached adulthood, she inherited a plot of land with the goal of working alongside her husband to provide a better life for their family. Their work consists primarily of maintaining their organic cacao crops, performing a series of tasks to optimize the final crop yield.

The cycle starts with replacing the old plantings through a technique called grafting, which is followed by the application of organic fertilizer that helps to bring better nutrients to the plants. This is reflected in the quality of the final crops that are sold to buyers in the area. In order to proceed with the first weeding operation of the season, Zenaida is seeking a loan of 1,000 nuevos soles to hire laborers for this task. Once this is completed, she will be able to continue working without difficulty.
