A loan of $500 helped to buy tires, pipes, and paint.

Lourdes Mercedes's story

Lourdes is a humble 28 year old businesswoman from Leon, and the mother of a three year old daughter. She sells snow cones of different flavors and was only able to complete the third grade. Due to her condition of poverty she was not able to complete her studies. A humble two-wheeled cart, some bells, and containers of flavors form part of her work equipment. She goes out to sell on foot every day and roams the streets in the city, ringing the bells and calling out her snow cone flavors, some of which are pineapple, milk, nancito, watermelon, and coconut.

She wants to buy three carts in order to expand her sales and also be able to provide employment to other people.

She is asking for this loan to buy tires, pipes, and paint to fix up two carts that she has. She needs sales and an income to be able to build a home of her own and provide a better quality of life for her family.
