A loan of $1,350 helped to buy nursery plants and the replacement of her cacao plots.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina, 28, is married to Virgilio, 30, and together they have two small children to whom they give all the fruit of their labor. She has a home constructed out of wood which in time she hopes to improve. Marcelina is a woman who's completely dedicated to agricultural activities relating to cacao and organic coffee production. She has been doing this work since she was very young, and for 1 year she has had her own plot that is close to its first cacao fruiting. Mainly, she performs her agricultural tasks with the support of workers who help with weeding and transporting the harvest. She likes her work very much since now she has her own plot and this will eventually allow her to earn a greater income.

She wants to have capital for the harvest season that's approaching. For this reason, she is asking for 3,500 Nuevos Soles to proceed with harvest preparation, and likewise, to buy nursery plants and proceed with the replacement of outdated cacao plots. Her long-term goals are aimed at opening up a grocery store, hoping to earn an income parallel to her principal activity.
