A loan of $775 helped to improve his business and diversify his products.

Rafayiri's story

Rafayiri is 30 years old and lives in the town of Kyotera in the Masaka region of Uganda. He is married and has three children who are all currently in school. For the past four years, Rafayiri has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells items like sugar, flour, and rice. To help expand his business, Rafayiri has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to improve the business and add different items. This will help Rafayiri to generate greater profits and increase his family's income. Rafayiri hopes that in the future he will be able to buy land. Rafayiri is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Rafayiri who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
