Nuliat's story

Nuliat is 48 years old and lives in the town of Masaka in the Masaka region of Uganda. She is married and has 8 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 4 years, Nuliat has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar, flour, rice and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Nuliat has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stork more items such as soda, rice, flour to sell, and will help Nuliat to generate greater profits and buy food for the family . Nuliat hopes that in the future she will be able to look after her family.

Nuliat is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Nuliat who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
