A loan of $3,925 helped a member to buy cosmetics.

Nuevo Horizonte Group's story

Hermelinda, 34, is another member of the Nuevo Horizonte group. She only attended secondary school and she's the single mother of twin daughters in secondary school.

She says she learned to work from a young age to help with the household expenses. Since her daughters were born, however, she had to work harder to get them ahead because she had her own family to care for and the expenses were double since they're twins.

In the beginning she had a fixed job but she needed more free time to care for her daughters, so two years ago she decided to start her own business and earn her own money. She sells cosmetics door-to-door to her friends and neighbors in her community. Sometimes she goes to nearby communities. Because she has been doing this work for some time, Hermelinda has acquired good customers, which helps her have greater sales and give her daughters a better quality of life.

She'll invest this loan in buying nail polish, eyeliner, lipstick, eye shadow, deodorant, and perfume.

Her plans for the future are for her daughters because she would like them to have the opportunity to study for a profession.

The other members of the group are Lourdes, chicken sales; Josefina, pastry sales; Bartola, snack sales, Benigno, nutrition club; Carmen, snack sales; Heriberta, clothing sales; and Hilda, snack sales.

In this group: Hilda, Lourdes, Hermelinda, Carmen, Josefina, Bartola, Benigno, Heriberta
