A loan of $500 helped to buy 3 small bulls to fatten.

María Santos's story

Maria, 45, is a single mother; her life partner abandoned her for someone else, leaving her with three kids. Currently, only one lives with her as the other two are already married. She works in agriculture with her son, having been taught by her father her how to do it. She also is a laundress, makes tortillas, and does farm work like spreading manure, spraying herbicides, planting, harvesting, etc. She gets up at 4:30am to do the household chores before she leaves to work.

She asks for a loan from Fundacion Campo to buy 3 small bulls to fatten up. She will fatten them on the waste that was left from her harvest, as she wants to take advantage of that food. When the animals are fat, she will be able to sell them and use the earnings to buy a refrigerator for her house. Her goal is to save to build a brick house, arrange the deed on a piece of land she inherited from her father, and for her son to graduate from high school.
