A loan of $200 helped to buy compost.

Paulina's story

Paulina, 51, is a widow with five children who works to provide for them as best she can. She and her family live in a house built with adobe blocks. From the time she was a young child, she learned from her parents the agricultural trade of producing organic cocoa. As the years passed and she came of age, she opted to work on the land that she inherited from her parents and continue with the family business.

After the death of her husband she chose to continue this work with the help of workers at the site who she pays for the work of weeding and thinning the plants, which, according to Paulina, are somewhat difficult. To continue maintaining her plantation, she would like to have capital to purchase compost and nursery plants and improve production in the short and long term. She says that all the fruits of her efforts will ultimately be given to her children who are already pursuing higher education outside the community.

She is requesting 500 nuevos soles to purchase bags of compost, which when applied correctly will significantly contribute to the yield of her cocoa production. She is grateful for this opportunity and agrees to pay her dues on time.
