A loan of $1,675 helped to buy a kiln and raw materials to increase her output.

Nury Octavia's story

Nury is 62 years old, married, and has two grown-up children. She has a ceramics and fabric handicrafts workshop. She learned this trade in 1993, helping her friend who had a business, and gained a lot of experience in how to produce ceramics and fabric goods, especially rag dolls. This led her to set out on her own adventure in handicrafts.

She works ten hours every day from Mondays to Sundays. She has regular customers, to whom she sells on credit and for cash. She also sells her items in stores in the city of Barranquilla. Her goal is to increase her output, exploring the potential market, and setting up a stand in a large ceramics store.

At the moment, she is requesting a loan from Kiva. This is her 15th loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, an organization which has allowed her to capitalize her profits and build new dreams, such as continuing to innovate to achieve the full loyalty of her customers. This is exactly what ensures that her loan with Kiva is likely to succeed. The loan will allow her to buy a kiln and raw materials to increase her output and the quality of her goods.
