A loan of $650 helped to buy groceries and cleaning products.

Ariel's story

Ariel is 49 years old. He lives in the south side of town with his family, which is made up of his family, his wife and two children, aged 3 and 13. Two years ago, Ariel started a business selling groceries on credit. He had worked for 24 years in a photography business where he lost his job. He decided to become independent by selling basic necessity products to his neighbors and friends. With them he was recommended and his customers slowly grew in number. He buys directly from wholesalers and gets good discounts, selling on credit. Because of this, he doesn't always have the working capital he needs to respond to his growing and potential clientele. That is why he has turned to a Kiva loan, the first loan he has taken out with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With it, he will buy groceries and cleaning products, because he plans on increasing his sales again by offering competitive prices, because he will pass the discounts from his suppliers on to his customers. His goal is to duplicate his sales so he can finish his home and finally offer his family a better well being.
