A loan of $325 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Hoerb's Group's story

Hoerb, 48, is from a rural village located in the Ek Phnom district of Battambang province. She is married with three children, one of whom is dependent on her and still in school. She and her husband earn a living through farming rice on 2 hectares of farmland and through fishing. They have been in this business for six years. The current business earns her family about 70,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) per day.

Hoerb’s group is receiving a microloan with Kiva’s partner VisionFund, and she is a first-time borrower. As the leader, she is leading her group of two to apply for a loan of 600,000 KHR each, and she will use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend for water pumping. With this loan, she hopes to increase her family’s income to set aside some money to buy a water pumping machine to help her in the rice field.
