A loan of $1,450 helped to buy a pair of bulls.

Ana's story

Ana is a 22 years old single woman who managed to finish primary school. She has 1 economic dependent in her charge, her small son. Ana's economic activity is agricultural production: she produces 2800 kilograms of potatoes, 5700 kilograms of peas, 1900 kilograms of broad beans, and 600 kilograms of oca (an Andean root vegetable). Ana does this on land that her parents loan her rent free. It is located in the community of Toralapa Alta, south of Tiraque Municipality [county], roughly 8 kilometers from the town of Tiraque.

Ana is clearly a hard-working and responsible person who desires to get ahead economically. To do so, she now finds it necessity to request investment capital to purchase a pair of bulls at this time of year when prices are low. In this manner, she can improve her income and also, the quality of life for her dependent child.
