A loan of $500 helped to buy seeds, fertilizer, etc. for her farming business.

Astenia Noemy's story

Astenia, 33, lives with her family. She owns the house where she lives and is known to be hard-working. She takes care of the family home and also helps her husband with his work. Astenia and her husband are farmers. They rent a small plot where they grow grains--maize, beans and locoro--common to this area. Astenia is applying for an INTEGRAL loan, part of which she will use to buy supplies--seeds, manure, fertilizer, herbicides, etc.-- for the business and the rest to pay the rent on the plot of land that they farm. Farming is all Astenia knows how to do and she hopes the investment will increase the size of her crop and, in turn, her income. Her family has no other source of income and she needs the loan to make sure they can continue to provide for themselves.
