A loan of $1,100 helped to buy perfume, lotion, and cosmetics.

Mirian Victoria's story

Mirian has been part of the La Paz communal bank for several years. She lives in the city of Cuenca, which is visited by many people due to its historical relevance. It has been named as part of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December, 1999. Aspects of interest include its four rivers, and its culture, traditions, and food, all of which captivate both locals and foreigners.

Mirian is married, 38 years old, and has two children ages 15 and 9. Her first son is in high school and her second son is in one of the local grade schools. Her husband is a driver and works for a private company. They live in their own home.

She has worked as a consultant for a well-known cosmetics brand for several years. This business gives her the opportunity to be her own boss and to improve her economic situation.

She invested her previous loan into buying cosmetics and clothes, which provide her with good income. She is also going to invest her new loan in her business. She plans to buy perfume, lotion, and cosmetics. She likes the communal bank because of the camaraderie, the unity, and the solidarity of the group.
