A loan of $4,700 helped a member buy baskets of fruit for retail sales.

Helene's Group's story

This group was created from the first cycle of the local "banc villageois" loan group. It includes 28 women from the same village united by good social relationships. The manager, Mrs. Bernadette, is seen standing with her hand raised at the extreme right of the picture and dressed in white. She is 53 years old and married with nine children: five boys and four girls all under her care. Bernadette has long been active in the fruit trading business. She has good experience in this field. Her new credit loan of 75,000 FCFA will allow her to buy various baskets of fruit to be sold at retail prices in her locality. The profits generated by her activities will enable her to support the school, health and food costs of her children.

In this group: Helene, Brigite Kor, Ndeye, Caroline Khoudia, Aida, Florence Sokhna, Marie Madeleine, Jaqueline, Diarra, Ngone, Marie Jeanne, Marie Gile, Rose Noel Thioro, Josephine Coumba, Berth Coumba, Henriette Mane, Mareme, Dembaye Alice, Marie Bernadette, Absa, Madeleine Bogne, Rene Bogne, Esperance Thioro, Thioro, Josephine W, Agnes Deguene, Rene Coumba, Henriette Coumba
