A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Augusto's story

Augusto, age 51, is a responsible man who is a leader in his community. He lives with his nephew Edwin and his sister. They share a house that he inherited from his mother. As a boy, Augusto spent his time in the fields where he learned to value and care for the land. For this reason, he has devoted his life to growing different agricultural products. On his land, he plants tracts of corn, potatoes, peas, and beans. The crops from each harvest are sold in the city of Huancayo where he has many customers. “I am an authority in my town and travel constantly to the city, so I take advantage of these opportunities to sell my products,” Augusto says. He also has six dairy cows and the milk that is produced provides daily income for other expenses.

Augusto is a member of the solidarity group named “San Juan” and this will be his first Kiva loan. He promises to be punctual with his payments since he was taught how to be a responsible individual. Augusto will invest 1,000 PEN in the purchase of organic fertilizer so that he can nourish his upcoming crops.
