A loan of $4,000 helped a member to pay for eucalyptus seedlings, fertilizer, training and plantation maintenance support.

Furaha's Group's story

Furaha is a thirty-four-year old mother of seven and a dry land farmer. She grows maize, cowpeas and cassava. Furaha does not have enough money to buy seeds to plant and insecticides when the crops are affected by pests, resulting in low yields. She is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program because she knows that in the future she will make profits from the sale of trees. "The profits I will make will enable me to send my kids to a good school to get an education," she says.
