Chigunda's Group's story

Chigunda is a thirty-six-year old mother of five children and a dry-land farmer. She grows maize, cowpeas and cassava. Chigunda's agricultural business faces the challenges of unreliable rainfall and lack of capital to buy pesticides.

She is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program because she believes KOMAZA is helping to empower farmers with knowledge and skills. With the profits from her tree farm, Chigunda plans to educate her children and open a warehousing business.
