A loan of $225 helped to buy another waan making machine.

Basheeran's story

Ms Basheeran is 41-years-old, an energetic married woman and a mother of eight children, five of which are attending school. For the last three years, she has been in business manufacturing a ‘waan’ (which is a material used in making charpoy [a bedstead of woven webbing or hemp stretched on a wooden frame on four legs, common in Pakistan]). She offers various kinds of waan in different colors, and she has become famous for providing good quality waan in her community.
In this way Basheeran is able to manage the needs of her family members. Her husband and a son are employed in a weaving factory but their income is not sufficient to meet the needs of the family members. She needs to improve her business and to do so she applied for a loan of 20,000 PKR (Pakistan Rupee) to buy another waan making machine for her son to assist her in his free time. Basheeran's dream is to use part of her profits on the expansion of her business.
