A loan of $1,500 helped to buy merchandise such as clothing, cosmetics and shoes.

Gloria Melida's story

Gloria Melida, 38, is single and has two children, ages 18 and 22, the youngest of which is in high school. She is a merchant and sells goods in general, such as youth and adult clothing, cosmetics and shoes, along with other items she receives orders for. She started her business 15 years ago and works as a street vendor, purchasing from distributors who import the products.

She started the business with economic help from her brothers and over time it has improved. The loan she is requesting is to buy more merchandise in an effort to improve sales and her income so she can provide her children with a better future. Gloria Melida is grateful for the help given to small business owners with low incomes in poor countries such as Nicaragua.
