A loan of $1,050 helped to do maintenance work on his mill, including lubrication and replacing some parts.

Wilber Eddy's story

Wilber Eddy is 36 years old and married, with two children aged 21 and 7. He is from Malpaisillo, a place located in the western part of the country. Wilber is known for being a responsible and hard-working person who has had to struggle in life to survive. Unfortunately, he was not able to pursue a university degree, due to the lack of economic resources, but he would have liked very much to study computer engineering.

Thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit and his desire to get ahead in life, Wilber's economic activities are providing milling services and raising and selling pigs. His business is located at his home. He has worked in this field for 18 years, and he enjoys his work very much. Wilber's working routine lasts for some 10 hours each day, as he offers his services to steady and occasional customers. The aim of the loan is to invest in working capital and provide maintenance for his mill, by replacing some parts and lubricating the equipment to provide better service to his customers, and thus obtain better income in the not-too-distant future. Wilber is grateful for the help that the Kiva investors provide to low-income individuals and poor countries such as Nicaragua, so that they can have the opportunity to work with dignity.
